How to Repair Termite Damage

Damage 995x675 1

Termites can cause severe damage to homes without being noticed for years; certain instances can cost homeowners thousands of dollars in repairs that are typically not covered in standard insurance policies. Finding damage within your home is an unsettling experience, but a licensed and trusted professional can help you move past this experience as quickly as possible.

Typical signs of damage include but are not limited to:

  • Temporary swarming of winged insects around the interior or exterior perimeters of your home
  • Discard wings are typically found following the swarming
  • Mud tubes along walls, beams, or in crawl spaces
  • Wood that sounds hollow and rotted when tapped

Once proper infestation treatment has been implemented (baiting, chemical, etc.), it is important to repair any structural damage affecting your home. Repairs should not be made until the termite infestation is neutralized and no further damage will incur.

There are two proven ways to repair termite damage to wood structures:

  • Remove and replace damaged sections of wood entirely
  • Add supporting structural wood attached to damaged areas

This type of work requires the skillset and confidence of a licensed contractor to be completed. Luckily, Deepdale employs multiple licensed contractors who have extensive experience performing typical termite induced repairs. We will be able to assist you with this process end-to-end.
